Live in light polluted suburbia? Then take advantage of what isn't affected by scattered light, the planets. We are currently producing a line of medium aperture, long focal length, small secondary (ie. small central obstruction, thus high contrast) Truss-Dobsonians, optimized for planetary observing.
The Teeter's Planetary Killers Advantage:
Once you receive your Planetary Killer, don't dispair, Galaxies, Globular and Open Clusters and Nebulae will also be jaw-dropping! The smaller secondary mirror makes for better contrast when the image gets to your eye, allowing you to pull, from the background sky, those faint arms of the Orion and Swan Nebulas. With the longer focal length of these scopes, you can push the magnification without having to use short focal length eyepieces, meaning you'll be more prone to "kick up the power" which will come in handy when you use these scopes to be "Cluster Busters" on Globular clusters. While Teeter's Planetary Killers lean a little more toward the planetary viewing end of the spectrum with their small secondary mirror, high contrast and ease of increasing magnification, they are also very well suited for doing general Deep-Space observing.
You simply can't buy a better telescope, jam-packed with these features, for less money. You get what you pay for, and when you pay for a Teeter's Planetary Killer, you get quality in every aspect of the scope. No need to EVER upgrade, we use the best components, including Feathertouch focusers, Wolanski off-set spiders, Moonlite Truss Blocks, Precision Mirror Cells, etc. See our What's Included Page for full details.
Apertures and focal lengths include:
Here it is, the original
scope that started it all. An 8" f/6 Dobsonian modeled after
the scope we took to the Stellafane Telescope Making Convention
in '98 and won 1st Place. With a slightly shorter focal length
than the Teeter's Planetary Killers, the Teeter's Original is
designed as more of an all-around scope, giving
superb views of the planets and deep-space as well. 10" versions
are also available:
8" f/6 $1599.99
10" f/5.6 $1899.99
Individually made for each customer and his or her telescope optical tube assembly. If you enjoy quality craftmanship, then we have the case for you. Some prefer the professional look of an aluminum case, but we find that a number of people love the look and feel of a finely sanded, stained and varnished wooden surface. These cases can be used with refractors, SCTs or Maksutovs. Let us know your tube outside diameter and length.
Base Price for scope lengths up to 36", $119.99
Base Price for scope lengths above 36" and up to 58", $149.99
w/ Foam Lining please add $49.99
What's Included for these prices? (ie. available colors and options)
One satisfied customer (owner of a custom made 6" f/8 refractor) and now owner of the case seen above had this to say:
"I just wanted to let you know what a fabulous job
you've done on the
case!!! It's sitting here next to my computer as I type this message
and
I'm thinking to myself....this could someday be an heirloom to
give to
my son."
A favorite among star party go-ers are our wooden eyepiece racks that mount directly to the side of your Dobsonian's Rocker box. Custom made eyepiece racks, easy installation on any Dobsonian telescope (requires only two holes in your base to accomodate the two supplied 8x32 bolts), made from 1/2" Baltic Birch plywood, finished with your choice of stain, paint and/or varnish. Let us know how many eyepieces you have and the color of your scope so we can match the rack to the rest of the scope. Turn around time is a modest 4 to 5 days after receipt of payment. One rack, capable of holding just about any combination of 1.25" and 2" eyepieces, is only:
$17.99 + $3.50 shipping.
One satisfied customer (owner of a 12.5" Discovery PDHQ)
had this to say:
"I just want to let you know that I received the eyepiece rack on Monday. It is in great condition and I can't wait to use it. BTW the match [of rack color to rockerbox color] looks real good too."
Orion, Meade and Celestron have sold a lot of Dobsonian telescopes and all of them left the factory with nylon altitude and azimuth bearings. Let us provide you with quality low-friction, low-stiction, virgin teflon squares to replace those that originally came with your scope. Teflon squares come with countersunk holes for supplied #8 black oxide coated screws for attachment. Azimuth bearings are 2" x 2" x 1/4" (thickness) teflon squares, while altitude bearings are 1" x. 0.75" x 1/4" (sizes vary, please let us know what scope you have) teflon squares:
$24.99 + shipping.
For those telescope builders we are your ONLY source for uncut virgin teflon strips. Our two most common widths are below:
12" x 2" x 1/4" (thickness), $19.99 + 3.50 shipping
12" x 1" x 1/4" (thickness), $9.99 + 3.50 shipping
Want to give your scope or telescope case a little flare? Have a homebuilt scope? Want to let everyone know this is YOUR homebuilt scope? Did your scope place in a telescope making convention, ie. Stellafane? Get yourself a professionally engraved Teeter's Telescopes brass plaque.
We don't charge by the letter, only by the size of the plaque you desire. Seen above are the two standard layouts of black background and bright borders and lettering. Above is only an example of what you could have your plaque read.
Each plaque is made from 1/16" thick solid brass, comes predrilled and includes four brass mounting screws to mount to your rockerbox or mirror box and is professionally engraved by master engravers.
Have a logo or picture you would like engraved on the plaque as well? Email us a picture. Unfortunately at this time we cannot duplicate the Stellafane logo (we're working on the details! but didn't it turn out great the first time?), but your plaque can still be eyecatching with the text.
5" x 7" Standard Plaque w/ mounting screws, $49.99
Please designate either Spiral Border (left) or Leafy Border (right). Thanks.
